NTL GIRLS BASKETBALL: ATHENS CAN'T DIG OUT OF EARLY HOLE IN 42-33 LOSS TO NEB (January 22, 2026)
Valley Sports ReportROME, Pa. — Northeast Bradford jumped out to an eight-point first-quarter lead, and Athens never recovered in a 42-33 loss here Thursday night in NTL girls basketball action.
Leah Beebe canned a pair of 3-pointers and scored eight points to fuel a game-opening 14-6 run.
Junior McKenna Jarvis, who scored five points in the first quarter, canned a 3-pointer and scored five more points in the second quarter, but the Wildcats couldn't close the gap, and trailed 23-15 at the halftime intermission.
Jarvis knocked down a pair of 3-pointers and scored all eight points of the Wildcats' in the third quarter as they trimmed one point off the NEB lead, and trailed 30-23 heading into the final eight minutes.
Jarvis and sophomore each connected on 3-pointers in the fourth quarter, but NEB closed the game with a 12-10 advantage to seal the win.
Jarvis had 21 points, including four 3-pointers, three rebounds and two assists to lead Athens, while Vough had six points and five boards, junior Megan Morgan grabbed three boards, and junior Brielle Mayo added two assists and two steals.
Athens, now 6-9, returns to action Saturday afternoon at Williamson.
JV: NEB 32, Athens 31: Alexis Mayo led Athens with 13 points, and Stella Unger added 11.
