NTL GIRLS WRESTLING: ATHENS RIDE FLURRY OF PINS TO 60-16 WIN OVER TOWANDA (18 PHOTOS) (January 22, 2026)

ATHENS — Athens won nine of the 10 contested weight classes — all by fall — in a 60-16 win over Towanda here Wednesday night in NTL girls wrestling action.

The Wildcats, now 2-1, scored five of their nine falls in the first period.

Sophomore Hailey Brinkley gave the Wildcats an early 6-0 lead with a pin of Hailey Harbst in 2:55 in their 100-pound bout, then sophomore Alyssa Rinebold needed just 75 seconds to pin Kaylee Johnson at 106 pounds to make it 12-0.

At 112 pounds, sophomore Mya Burke pinned Natalyn Morris in 2:54 to run the the Athens lead to 18-0.

After an Athens forfeit at 118 pounds, Athens junior Joyce Clink decked Kylie Jonson in 61 seconds to push the lead back to 18 points at 24-6.

Kenzie Brown would score Towanda's only win on the mat with a major decision at 130 pounds to close the gap to 24-10, but the Wildcats won the next three bouts by fall.

Senior Hanna Rathbun started the Athens run with the fastest fall of the night, flattening Lia Fischer in 35 seconds at 136 pounds, then sophomore Memphis Paul pinned Ily Benjamin in 4:35 at 142 pounds.

Sophomore Abigail Ahern finished off the mini-run with a pin of Kendal Cook ain 2:54 at 148 pounds to push the lead to 42-10.

After an Athens forfeit at 155 pounds trimmed the lead to 42-16, the Wildcats got pins from junior Abigail Wagner in 1:36 at 170 pounds, and freshman Skylynn Payne in 50 seconds at 190 to extend the lead to 54-16.

Senior 235-pounder Leah Nason picked up a forfeit to close out the scoring.

Athens returns to action next weekend at the Williamsport Showcase.
