NTL SWIMMING: ATHENS BOYS, GIRLS REGISTER WINS OVER CENTRAL COLUMBIA, WELLSBORO (January 23, 2026)

ATHENS — The Athens boys and girls both registered wins over Wellsboro and Central Columbia here Friday in non-league swimming action, with the Lady Wildcats winning the meet-closing 400 free relay to secure the victory.

BOYS
Athens 99, Wellsboro 27
Athens 82, Central Columbia 69

Juniors Brayden Pettitt and Eli Hicks were quad-winners to lead the Athens to an 82-69 win over Central Columbia, and a 99-27 win over Wellsboro.

Pettitt won the 200-yard IM in a time of 2:01.18, and sophomore Alexander Sledge was fourth in 3:04.58.

Pettitt also won the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:00.37, and senior Ty Lezak was third in 1:11.71.

Hicks won the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 22.96 seconds, and won the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 50.63 seconds.

Pettitt, Hicks, teamed with juniors Jacob Shores, and Dominic Musick to win the 200-yard freestyle relay in a time of 1:35.42.

The same foursome won the 400-yard freestyle relay in a time of 3:33.35.

Lezak won the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 1:04.34.

Junior Austin Quattrini won the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 6:03.91.

Shores finished second in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 2:11.94.

Musick finished second in the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 1:08.19, and Stedge was third in 1:24.71.

GIRLS
Athens 78, Wellsboro 32
Athens 74, Central Columbia 68

Seniors Evelyn Panek and Elizabeth Denlinger each won four events, and senior Olivia Thompson was a triple-winner to lead the Lady Wildcats to a 74-68 win over Central Columbia, and a 78-32 win over Wellsboro.

Panek won the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 26.8 seconds.

Panek also won the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 59.61 seconds, and Thompson was second in 1:00.65.

Denlinger won the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 2:14.46, and also won the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:16.97

Thompson won the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 1:09.57, and junior Kaitlyn Leonard was third in 1:16.67.

Thompson, Denlinger, Panek and Leonard teamed to win the 200-yard medley relay in a time of 2:06.16.

The same foursome won the 400-yard freestyle relay in a time of 4:11.56.

Senior Kayla Marshall, junior Alana Reyes, sophomore Brooke Lyon, and freshman Peighton Henry teamed to win the 200-yard freestyle relay in a time of 2:03.91.

Leonard finished second in the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 1:19.81.

Athens returns to action Thursday when it hosts Wellsboro.
