IAC GIRLS WRESTLING: TIOGA CROWNS FOUR CHAMPIONS AT LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIPS (18 PHOTOS) (January 24, 2026)
Valley Sports ReportWATKINS GLEN — Tioga crowned four champs, and had two runners-up here Saturday at the IAC Girls Wrestling Championships at the Watkins Glen Fieldhouse.
Senior Sophia Haney, juniors Amelia Toomey and Kyah Nelson, and sophomore Cora Szymanski claimed IAC titles, while senior Mia Hall and freshman Emily Moniz were runners-up.
With weight classes combined in some instances due to the small number of competitors, there were no team championship.
Haney was 2-0 to win the 126-pound weight class.
She scored a 41-second pin of Marathon's Adalyn VanDee, then earned a fall of Newark Valley's Billeigh Dawson in 2:18.
Szymanski was 3-0 to win the 138-pound poll, scoring three first-period falls.
Szymanski scored 37 seconds over SVEC's Abigail Russell, and 30 seconds over Newark Valley's Emily LaPorte, before finishing off her title run with a pin of Newark Valley's Malerie Gregow in 1:59.
Toomey was 3-0 with three technical falls to win the 152-pound pool.
Toomey scored 10-0 technical fall wins on Edison's Eden Berthel and Sydney Gibbs, and Newark Valley's Isabella King.
Nelson was 2-0 to win the 185-pound pol title, winning both matches via technical.
Nelson scored an 11-0 win over Schuyler's Lacie Flynn and a 10-0 win over Dryden's Destiny Ryan.
Hall was 2-1 to place second in the 114-pound pool.
Hall recorded pins of Newark Valley's Nora McCann in 1:15, and Whitney Point's Zoey Taft in 29 seconds in her first two bouts, then lost via fall to SVEC's Taylor Zufall in 3:50 in her final match.
Moniz was 1-1 to finish second in the 235-pound bout.
Moniz pinned Newark Valley's Ashley Callahan in 42 seconds, then lost via fall to SVEC's Katelyn VanEtten.
Sophomore Vida Rossi was 0-3 at 120 pounds.
