OWEGO — Owego Free Academy built a nine-point lead through three quarters, then held off Waverly's fourth-quarter comeback bid in a 62-60 win here Saturday afternoon in STAC junior varsity boys basketball action.

OFA led 21-15 after the opening eighth minutes, and extended the lead to 31-23 at the half.

Brycen Fiske scored six points, including a 3-pointer, in the third quarter, and Drew Croft added a trey, but the River Hawks outscored Waverly, 15-14, in the stanza to take a 46-37 lead into the final eight minutes.

Brody Lambert pumped in eight fourth-quarter points for the Wolverines, while Croft knocked down a pair of 3-pointers, and Fiske added one 3-pointer in a 23-16 advantage, but OFA made enough free throws down the stretch to preserve the win.

Lambert led Waverly with 14 points and two assists, while Croft had 12 points, including a trio of 3-pointers, four rebounds, two assists, and five steals, and Fiske had 11 points, including two 3-pointers.

Axel Murray had seven points, three steals, and three blocked shots for the Wolverines, while Maddex Presher had seven points and five rebounds, and Ian Johnston had seven points, three rebounds and three assists.

Waverly returns to action Wednesday at Lansing.
