SECTION IV CHEERLEADING: WAVERLY CLAIMS CLASS C RUNNER-UP SPOT AT WILDCATS WINTER COMPETITION (December 1, 2026)

JOHNSON CITY — The Waverly cheerleading squad claimed runner-up honors at the Wildcats Winter Competition held here Saturday.
The Wolverines scored 55.1 points, trailing only Chenango Valley in Class C competition. The Warriors posted a score of 73.35 points. Windsor was third with 53.25 points. Also competing in Class C were Susquehanna and Whitney Point.
Horseheads was named grand champion, scoring 90.9 points during the event. The Blue Raiders won the Class B title with Maine-Endwell second in the class with 48.45 points.
Elmira won Class A with 69.3 points and Corning was second with 43.
Seton Catholic topped the Class D field with 59.85 points. Newark Valley was the runner-up with 56.75 points, edging out Tioga, which was third with 56.4. Also competing in Class D were Spencer-Van Etten and Watkins Glen.
The STAC championships will be held next Sunday at Union-Endicott. Newark Valley will host the IAC championships on Feb. 13. The Section IV championships will take place Feb.28 at Chenango Valley and the state championships will be held at Visions Veterans Memorial Arena on March 7.
