IAC GIRLS BASKETBALL: NEWFIELD RIDES BIG FIRST HALF TO WIN OVER TIOGA (February 3, 2026)
Valley Sports ReportNEWFIELD — Newfield built a 16-point halftime lead and cruised to a 43-27 win over Tioga here Tuesday night in IAC South Small School Division girls basketball action.
Newfield led 9-3 after the first quarter, then used an 18-8 second-quarter run to open up a 27-11 lead at the halftime intermission.
An 8-3 spurt in the third quarter gave the Trojans a 35-14 lead heading into the final eight minutes, but Tioga closed strong.
Irie Lynch scored six points in the third quarter as Tioga used a 13-8 advantage to close the gap to 16 points.
Lynch led Tioga with 13 points, two rebounds and two steals, and Lydiah Decker had six points, two rebounds and two steals.
Kate Kithcart hauled down six rebounds for the Tigers, while Adrienne Delmage pulled down five boards, Kaylah Nelson added four boards and two steals, and Bailey Delmage chipped in with three rebounds.
Newfield's Egypt Smith-Henderson led all scorers with 21 points.
Tioga returns to action Friday when it hosts S-VE.
