NTL GIRLS BASKETBALL: COWANESQUE VALLEY TAKES CONTROL IN SECOND HALF OF 46-18 WIN OVER SAYRE (24 PHOTOS) (February 3, 2026)
Valley Sports ReportSAYRE — Cowanesque Valley took control in the third quarter on its way to a 46-18 win over Sayre here Tuesday night in NTL Small School girls basketball action.
The Indians scored five points in the final minute of the first quarter to take a 10-4 lead.
Freshman Afftyn VanDuzer scored a bucket early in the second quarter to close the gap to 12-6, then sophomore McKenna Parrish canned a 3-pointer to trim the deficit to 12-9, but CV hit a pair of treys in the final 2 minutes of the first half to take an 18-9 lead into the halftime locker room.
CV blew the game open with an 18-5 blitz in the third quarter, and closed the game with a 12-4 run over the final eight minutes.
Lantz led Sayre with seven points, 15 rebounds, six blocked shots and three steals, while senior Olivia Thompson had three points, three rebounds, and four steals, Parrish had three points, three assists, and two steals.
Freshman Allia Bennett hauled down seven rebounds for the Redskins, while senior Harley Brown grabbed five boards, and freshman Hailey Sanderson and Sofia Kline added four and three rebounds, respectively.
Sayre returns to action Thursday when it hosts Cowanesque Valley.
