(FRIDAY) STAC GIRLS BASKETBALL: CHENANGO FORKS TOPS WAVERLY, 60-47 (February 8, 2026)
Valley Sports ReportBINGHAMTON — Chenango Forks took an early lead and gradually pulled away in a 60-47 win over Waverly here Friday night in STAC Central Division girls basketball action.
Junior Ryleigh Judson scored eight points, including a 3-pointer, in the first quarter, but Forks led 17-12 after the opening eight minutes.
The Wolverines cost themselves a few points in the opening stanza by making just 3 of 7 attempts from the free-throw line.
Judson and senior Kaitlyn Judson each canned 3-pointers in the second quarter, but the Blue Devils used a 14-10 advantage in the stanza to stretch its lead to 31-22 at the half.
Senior Brilynn Belles and sophomore Lauryn Welles each knocked down 3-pointers in the third quarter, and the Wolverines were 4-for-4 from the free-throw line, but Forks still outscored them, 18-12, to extends its lead to 49-34 heading into the final eight minutes.
Judson led Waverly with 20 points, including a trio of 3-pointers, three rebounds, and two steals, while Belles and sophomore Kaylin Test had six points, and sophomore Kendall Rockwell added four points.
Welles hauled down 10 rebounds for the Wolverines, while sophomore Maci Wheeler had five boards and two steals, and junior Makenzie Olmsted grabbed four boards.
Chenango Forks standout Maggie Warpus, who is committed to play at Division I Oregon State, pumped in 30 points, including four 3-pointers to lead the Blue Devils.
Waverly returns to action Tuesday at Owego.
