STAC BOWLING: WAVERLY BOYS SECOND, LADY WOLVERINES FOURTH AT LEAGUE TEAM CHAMPIONSHIPS (February 9, 2026)
Valley Sports ReportVESTAL — The Waverly boys lost out on a team championship by nine pins in a second-place finish, while the Lady Wolverines placed fourth Monday at the STAC Team Bowling Championships here at Midway Lanes.
BOYS
M-E EDGES WAVERLY TO WIN TEAM TITLESenior Derek Johnson banged out a big 700 series, and all four of his Wolverine teammates rolled 600 series, but Maine-Endwell pulled out team championships, edging Waverly by a total-pinfall count of 3,359 to 3,350.
Waverly rolled an 1,143 in the first game, and a 1,221 in the second game, but struggled in the third, finishing with a 986.
Johnson rolled a 779 series on games of 279, 255, and 245, while senior Maison Apgar shot a 663 series on games of 222, 257, and 184, and sophomore Griff Walter had a 648 on games of 244, 213, and 191.
Freshman Colten Santalucia added a 632 series for the Wolverines on games of 217, 238, and 177, and senior Tristan Campbell tacked on a 628 series on games of 181, 258, and 189.
GIRLS
ELMIRA WINS STAC TEAM TITLEWaverly rolled games of 725, 768, and 748 for a total-pinfall count of 2,241, well off the pace of team champ Elmira, which tallied 2,830 pins.
Karis Hayes led Waverly with a 515 series, while Ariel Houseknecht shot a 503 series, and Rylie Witman rolled a 498 series.
Aby Apgar added a 394 series, while Emmalynn Vanderpool rolled consecutive 123 games, and Emily Houseknecht tacked in a 110 game.
The Waverly teams return to action next weekend at the Section IV, Class B Championships at Midway Lanes.
