NTL GIRLS BASKETBALL: ATHENS RALLIES LATE, BUT FALLS TO WYALUSING IN OVERTIME (February 9, 2026)

ATHENS — Athens made a late run to force overtime, but Wyalusing dominated the extra session in a 48-41 win here Monday night in NTL Large School Division girls basketball action.

The Rams defense stifled Athens' offense in the opening stanza and led 6-1 after the first eight minutes.

Sophomore Allie Kemp knocked down a 3-pointer and scored five points in the second quarter as the Wildcats trimmed one point off its deficit with a 12-11 advantage and trailed 17-12 heading into the halftime break.

Junior McKenna Jarvis pumped in 10 points, including a pair of 3-pointers in the third quarter, and Athens made 6 of 8 free-throw attempts, but Wyalusing outscored the Wildcats, 15-14, to take a 32-27 lead into the final eight minutes.

Jarvis canned a 3-pointer and scored five points and sophomore Alissa Vough added five points, including a pair of key free throws, as the Wildcats used a 12-7 run to tie the game at 39-39 at the end of regulation.

Kemp scored the Wildcats' only bucket in the overtime as the Rams finished off the game with a 9-2 run.

Jarvis led Athens with 18 points, including a trio of 3-pointers, four rebounds and four steals, while Vough had nine points three rebounds and four steals, and Kemp scored eight points.

Freshman Alexis Mayo added four points and four steals for the Wildcats, and junior Brielle Mayo grabbed three boards.

Athens wraps up the regular season at 10-12.

JV — Wyalusing 30, Athens 18: Stella Unger led Athens with seven points.
