NTL BOYS BASKETBALL: MOUNT CARMEL PULLS AWAY IN FOURTH QUARTER; TOPS ATHENS, 60-44 (February 10, 2026)
Valley Sports ReportMOUNT CARMEL — Mount Carmel used a 19-5 fourth-quarter run to blow open a close game in a 60-44 win over Athens here Tuesday night in non-league boys basketball action.
Seniors Eli Hobday and Nick Grazul each canned 3-pointers in the first quarter to help the Wildcats play Mount Carmel even, at 12-12, in the opening stanza.
Freshman Aiden Briggs knocked down a 3-pointer and scored seven points in the second quarter, and junior Lucas Schultz added six points as Athens outscored Mount Carmel, 15-14, to take a 27-26 lead into the halftime break.
Schultz and Grazul scored four points apiece in the third quarter, but the Red Tornadoes used a 15-12 advantage in the stanza to take a 41-39 lead into the final eight minutes.
Mount Carmel's Daniel Snyder hit a pair of 3-pointers early in the fourth quarter to trigger the decisive run.
Schultz led Athens with 14 points, while Briggs scored 11, Grazul added seven, and senior James Friend chipped in with four.
Jude Lazicki led Mount Carmel with 23 points, while Snyder scored 13 points, Michael Kaleta added 12 points, and Jaylen Delaney chipped in with 11 points.
Athens, now 14-8, returns to action Thursday at Northeast Bradford in the semifinals of the NTL Showdown.
