NTL GIRLS BASKETBALL: SAYRE FALLS IN SEASON FINALE AT THOMAS A. EDISON (20 PHOTOS) (February 11, 2026)

Valley Sports Report
ELMIRA HEIGHTS — Edison jumped ahead early and cruised to a 54-25 win over Sayre in the season finale here Wednesday night in non-league girls basketball action.

The Spartans led 20-9 after the first quarter, and extended its lead to 29-16 at the half.

Senior Rylee Lantz kept the Redskins in the game with 14 first-half points, including nine in the opening stanza.

The Spartans put the game away with a 15-4 third-quarter blitz to take a 44-20 lead into the final eight minutes.

Lantz led Sayre with 21 points, 13 rebounds, and four blocked shots, while sophomore Brooklyn Roberts had six boards and three steals, and freshman Allia Bennett added three rebounds and one blocked shot.

Sayre finishes the season at 0-19.

"We got knocked around a lot, but all our girls, led by the seniors, never quit," said Sayre coach Matt Senese. "I've never seen fight like this group of girls has.

The Redskins will graduate three seniors in Lantz, Olivia Thompson and Harley Brown.

"Rylee Lantz was a four-year varsity player, and cleared 500 career rebounds," said Senese. "No task was ever too big for her.

"Olivia Thompson is a girl who has never played JV or varsity basketball," noted Senese. "She stepped up to be the one of the tops in steals in the NTL.

"And, Harley Brown was a first-time player, who came out her senior year and gave everything she had," added Senese. "She worked hard and always with a smile."
