STAC JV GIRLS BASKETBALL: WAVERLY CLOSES REGULAR SEASON WITH WIN OVER OWEGO (February 13, 2026)
Valley Sports ReportOWEGO — Waverly held Owego to just one field goal in the first half and cruised to a 42-9 win here Wednesday night in STAC Central Division junior varsity girls basketball action.
Kezlyn DeKay scored six points in the first quarter, and Raygane Oakes added a 3-pointer in a 14-0 first-quarter blitz by the Wolverines.
Oakes knocked down another 3-pointer and scored four points in the second quarter to spark Waverly in a 9-2 run that upped the lead to 23-2 at the halftime intermission.
Waverly led, 28-7, heading into the final eight minutes, where DeKay pumped in eight points to fuel a game-ending 14-2 run.
DeKay led Waverly with 14 points, three rebounds, four blocked shots, and two steals, while Oakes had nine points, seven steals, and one blocked shot.
Sophia Dorsey had five points and six boards in the win, while Paige Bubniak had five points, two assists and two steals, and Meeya Wheeler had four points, two assists, and six steals
Taylin Gonzalez had four points, three assists, and two steals for the Wolverines, and Addison Foster grabbed six rebounds and two steals.
Waverly, now 16-2, hosts Horseheads Saturday at noon in the semifinals of the STAC Championships.
