Valley Sports Report
THE VALLEY — The 2025-26 winter season's regular season draws to a close tonight with a boys basketball game at Tioga, and a girls-boys hoop doubleheader at Waverly.

BOYS BASKETBALL
Groton (7-11) at Tioga (9-10), 5:30 p.m. (Varsity only):
The Tigers are coming off a 56-37 loss at Watkins Glen and look to rebound and finish the season at .500 at home against Groton.

The Red Hawks are coming off a 73-50 loss to Section III's Homer.

Looking ahead to the Section IV playoffs, Tioga appears locked into the 11th seed in the Class C bracket and a first-round match-up against Candor, although official word will be released Thursday.

Whitney Point (8-11) at Waverly (13-6), 6:45 p.m. (Varsity only):
The Wolverines are coming off an 89-29 thrashing of divisional rival Owego, while the Golden Eagles rolled over Dryden, 71-39. 

Looking ahead to the Section IV playoffs, Waverly appears to be locked into the third seed in the Class A bracket and a road trip to Oneonta next week, although official word will be released Thursday.

GIRLS BASKETBALL
Elmira (8-10) at Waverly (8-1), 5 p.m. (Varsity only):
The Wolverines are coming off a 37-36 loss to Owego, while the Express rolled to a 57-32 win over Binghamton.

Looking ahead to the Section IV playoffs, Waverly could end up the fifth or sixth seed with potential road trips to Owego or Johnson City next week, although official word will be released Thursday.
