WAVERLY'S WELLES, SAYRE'S BROWN NAMED BISHOP BROTHERS CONSTRUCTION BOYS "ATHLETES OF THE WEEK" Welles, the top seed, won his first Section IV title, but will make third trip to States.
Welles pinned Marathon's Trenton Vinson in 1:24 — his longest match the day — in the quarterfinals, then pinned Marathon's Brian DeForest in 54 seconds in the semifinals. He decked second-seeded Nolan Boyles in 51 seconds in the finals.
Brown, the top seed, went 3-0 to win the 172-pound bracket at the District 4, North Section Championships.
Brown needed 74 seconds in the quarterfinals to forge a 17-1 technical fall of North Penn-Liberty's Travis Stubblefield.
In the semifinals, Brown scored a seven-point move in the first period and topped Towanda's Kolton McPeak, 7-0.
In the finals, Brown scored a first-period takedown for a 3-0 lead over Canton's Blaine Wesneski, then hit a five-point move at the end of the second period to take an 8-1 lead into the final two minutes.

ATHENS' NASON, TIOGA'S TOOMEY NAMED BISHOP BROTHERS CONSTRUCTION GIRLS "ATHLETE OF THE WEEK"Nason, the top seed, was 3-0 to win her third consecutive 235-pound District 4 title.
Nason flattened Isabella Snyder of Sugar Valley in 15 seconds in the quarterfinals, then decked fourth-seeded Aryanna McGinley of Mount Carmel in 63 seconds in the semifinals.
In the finals, Nason pinned second-seeded Adelyn Rine in 3:54.
Toomey, the second seed, was 4-0 — two quick pins and two technical falls — on the day to win the 138-pound bracket.
Toomey started her day with a 12-second pin of Owego's McKenna Wilbur in the opening win, then forged a 10-0 technical win over Waverly's Jillianna Presher in the quarterfinals.
Toomey decked third-seeded Tori Reh of Chenango Forks in 18 seconds in the semifinals, then blanked top-seeded Payton Little of Oneonta in a 10-0 technical fall in the finals.
