THE VALLEY — Athens opens postseason play tonight on the road against top-seeded Central Columbia in the quarterfinals of the District 4, Class 4A playoffs.

Athens, the eighth seed, enters Thursday night's action at 10-12, having lost two of its last three, including a 48-41 home loss to Wyalusing 10 days ago in its regular-season finale.

Central Columbia enters the contest at 24-0 mark, including 62-31 win over Hughesville in its conference championship game Friday.

The Blue Jays have played  just three games decided by less than 10 points, and own a 46-33 win over NTL champ Troy, which beat the Wildcats, 52-29 and 45-19.

Game time is 7 p.m.
