SECTION IV INDOOR TRACK & FIELD: TIOGA'S ALBRECHT WINS POLE VAULT GOLD; PUNCHES TICKET TO STATES (7 PHOTOS)(February 21, 2026) Valley Sports Report ITHACA — Tioga senior Gavin Albrecht, the reigning Section IV and New York State champion, took his talents indoors this winter and Friday night won Section IV gold in the pole vault at the Indoor Track & Field State Qualifier here at Ithaca College.
Albrecht won state gold in the spring with a school-record vault of 15-feet, cleared 14-feet, 6-inches to win the indoor gold.
Michael Akulis of Johnson City cleared 14-feet to win the silver medal, and Corning's Maxwell Jennings and Ethan Wentzle tied for third at 13-feet, 6-inches to claim bronze.
The New York State Indoor Track & Field Championships is set for March 6-7 at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex, located on Staten Island.
