Valley Sports ReportALBANY — Six Tioga County wrestlers, including four from the Valley, will compete Thursday at the New York State Girls Wrestling Championships here at the MVP Arena.
SVEC senior Tayah Beach (35-4) is the second seed at 120 pounds, and will square off with unseeded Emma Palencia (15-8) of Section VII's Roslyn in the opening round.
Waverly senior Emma Vanderhoof, 34-8, is the fifth seed at 132 pounds and will face unseeded Clara Parsons (15-13) of Section VII's Northern Adirondack in the opening round.
Tioga sophomore Kyah Nelson (19-4) is the sixth seed at 185 pounds and will face Isabelle Sabelja (7-5) of Section I's Eastchester in the opening round.
Tioga junior Amelia Toomey (33-2) is the eighth seed at 138 pounds and will face ninth-seeded Payton Little (21-3) of Oneonta in the opening round.
Waverly freshman Gianna Rylott (20-16) is unseeded at 100 pounds, and will face third-seeded Olivia Anello (21-4) of Section XI's Bellport in the opening round.
Newark Valley 8th-grader Hadley Merrill (21-8) is unseeded at 94 pounds and will face sixth-seeded Zoey Hernandez (24-3) of Section XI's Rocky Point in the opening round.
