PIAA WRESTLING: SAYRE'S BROWN IN WRESTLEBACKS AT CLASS AA NORTHEAST REGIONALS (10 PHOTOS) (February 27, 2026)

WILLIAMSPORT — Sayre junior Jordan Brown avenged a loss from last weekend's District 4 Class AA Championships here Friday night at Northeast Regionals, but drew the top seed in the quarterfinals and dropped into the consolation bracket.

Brown squared off with Canton's Blaine Wesneski in the opening round Friday and prevailed with a fall at 3:19.

Brown scored a takedown with 19 seconds remaining in the first period to take a 3-0 lead in the second period.

Wesneski chose bottom to start the second period and Brown turned him midway through the period for the fall.

It's the third consecutive weekend the two NTL grapplers have squared off against each other. 

Last weekend, Wesneski beat Brown 7-3 in the fifth-place match at Districts to avenge a 10-1 loss to Brown in the North Section championship match the prior week.

In the quarterfinals, Montoursville powerhouse Gage Wentzel, a three-time PIAA place-winner who is committed to West Virginia, scored a 21-5 technical fall in 3:36.

Wetzel scored two takedowns in the first period and led 6-1, then recorded five takedown in the second period to close out the match via technical fall.

Brown, now 23-11, will square off with Montgomery's Raider Felix (28-19) in the first round of wrestlebacks.
