PIAA WRESTLING: BROWN FINISHES FOURTH AT NORTHEAST REGIONALS; FIRST HERSHEY-BOUND SAYRE GRAPPLER SINCE 2008 (15 PHOTOS) (February 28, 2026)

Valley Sports Report
WILLIAMSPORT — Sayre junior Jordan Brown won his first three matches in wrestlebacks Saturday to punch his ticket to the PIAA Class AA Championships with a fourth-place finish here at the Northeast Regional Championships.

Brown becomes the first Redskins to qualify for States since Rich Villanti went to Hershey in 2008.

Brown, now 26-12, finished sixth last weekend at the District 4, Class AA Championships.

"We went into the room this week working on our mindset, and what we needed to do this week," said Sayre coach Ralph Warner.

"Winning that first match, one we lost last week set the tone for the weekend," said Warner of Brown's win over Canton's Blaine Wesneski Friday night. "I think he's been mentally focused and just took it one match at a time.

"We wrestled on our feet much better, we wrestled every match to win, and didn't wrestle to not lose," added Warner.

Brown, who was 1-1 Friday night, opened Saturday with a 15-0 technical fall win over Montgomery's Raiden Fox in 4:04.

After a takedown midway through the first period, Brown hit a seven-point move in the second period to take a 10-0 lead, and closed out the technical fall with a five-point move midway through the third period.

In the blood round, Brown scored a 6-1 decision over Lake Lehman's River Morgan.

Brown scored on a two-point tilt early in the second period to take a 2-0 lead, then scored an escape in the third period to extend the lead to 3-0. With 58 seconds remaining, he iced the with a takedown to make it 6-0.

Brown kept it rolling with a 3-1 win over South Williamsport's Jayden Hamm, scoring a takedown with 1:44 remaining in the third period.

Brown rode Hamm the remainder of the third period, but was penalized a point for stalling with 39 seconds remaining.

The win avenges Brown's 3-1 loss to Hamm last weekend at the District 4 Championships.

In the third-place match, Brown dropped a 19-4 technical fall to Line Mountain's Nolan Savage, who also beat Brown in a 17-2 technical fall last weekend.

The PIAA, Class AA Championships begin Thursday morning at the Giant Center in Hershey.
