COLLEGE WRESTLING: TIOGA GRAD ROE QUALIFIES FOR D-III NATIONALS WITH THIRD-PLACE FINISH AT NATIONALS (March 2, 2026)

Tyler Roe, a sophomore at Stevens Institute of Technology, reached the semifinals and ended up finishing third at the NCAA Division III, Region II Championships here Saturday at Ithaca College.
Roe started in spectacular fashion with a 17-0 technical fall of Cortland's Jack Pickersgill.
Roe scored a takedown and two sets of near-fall points to take a 10-0 lead after the first period. He scored another takedown early in the second period, then closed out the match at 4:23 with four near-fall points.
In the round of 16, Roe forged a 14-5 major decision over Brockport's Max Morrison.
Roe scored two takedowns in the first period, and another in the second to take a 9-3 lead into the final two minutes. He closed out the match with a quick escape in the third period, another takedown, and a riding-time point for the major decision.
In the quarterfinals, Roe rolled to a 20-5 technical fall over unseeded Hunter Cleaver of Centenary, who knocked off third-seeded Mason Suavity of Penn State-Behrend, 8-7, in the round-of-16.
Roe scored three takedowns in the first period and led 9-2, then tacked on three more, and picked up a point when Cleaver was banged for stalling to lead 19-5 heading into he third period.
Roe escaped in six seconds to start the third period to close out the technical fall at 5:06.
In the semifinals, Roe dropped a 15-1 major decision to second-seeded Carter Davis of Penn Tech.
In the consolation semifinals, Roe faced St. John Fisher's eighth-seeded Trevor Sheehan, who advanced with a 5-4 win over Roe's former teammate fourth-seeded Donovan Smith of Elmira College in the previous round.
Roe scored a quick takedown, then another to take a 6-1 lead, before two sets of near-fall points made it 11-1. Roe finished off the fall at 2:52.
In the third-place match, Roe forged an 11-1 major decision over Oneonta State's fifth-seeded Ryley Monica.
Roe scored a first-period takedown, then added another midway through the second period to take a 7-1 lead into the final two minutes. Another takedown and a riding-time point provided the final margin for Roe.
Roe, now 25-15, returns to action at the Division III Championships March 13 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
