VALLEY SPORTS REPORT: TIOGA'S McKEE, TOOMEY NAMED BISHOP BROTHERS CONSTRUCTION 'ATHLETES OF THE WEEK' (March 5, 2026)

THE VALLEY — Tioga juniors Declan McKee and Amelia Toomey are New York State wrestling champions. They are also the Valley Sports Report / Bishop Brothers Construction "Athletes of the Week," for the week ending Feb. 28.

TIOGA'S McKEE NAMED BISHOP BROTHERS CONSTRUCTION BOYS 'ATHLETE OF THE WEEK'
McKee went 4-0 to win the 110-pound Division 2 state title — his second state title in a row.

In his first two matches, McKee won via fall in 69 seconds, then registered a 17-1 technical fall in the quarterfinals.

In the semifinals, McKee edge fourth-seeded Wyatt Sartori of Dansville-Wayland-Cohocton, then beat Southwestern's Adrian Torres, 10-1, in a rematch of last year's 101-pound final.

TIOGA'S TOOMEY NAMED BISHOP BROTHERS CONSTRUCTION GIRLS 'ATHLETE OF THE WEEK'
Toomey was 4-0 to win the 138-pound title, with her wins including a pair of pins and one technical fall.

After Toomey, the eighth-seed, opened with an 11-0 technical fall in the opening round, she received a medical forfeit from top-seeded Isabella Stalino of Columbia in the quarterfinals.

In the semifinals, Toomey led fourth-seeded Melania Turano of Bay Shore, 10-4, when she locked in a cradle for a fall at 3:57.

In the finals, Toomey pinned previously-unbeaten Noli Paddock of Chautauqua Lake in 4:38 to complete a comeback from an early 8-1 deficit.
