PIAA SWIMMING & DIVING: ATHENS EARNS SEVEN WILD CARDS TO STATE MEET IN SIX EVENTS (February 9, 2026)

LEWISBURG — Athens only had two state qualifiers at the District 4 Class AA Swimming & Diving Championships, but based on times the Wildcats will be competing in seven more events — nine in all.

The 400-yard freestyle relay team of juniors Brayden Pettitt, Eli Hicks, Dominic Musick and Eli Hicks won a District 4 gold to qualify for States, and will be the 25th seed at the Bucknell University Natatorium with a seed time of 3:23.42.

Senior Penelope Grubb was the runner-up at District 4, Class AA Diving Championships to qualify for States. She is the 24th seed in the 1-meter diving competition with a seed score of 246.7.

Junior Brayden Pettitt earned wildcards in two events. 

Pettitt is the ninth seed in the 100-yard breaststroke with a seed time of 58.73 seconds. He is the 11th seed in the 200-yard IM with a seed time of 1:57.87.

Junior Eli Hicks is the 23rd seed in the 50-yard freestyle with a seed time of 22.2 seconds.

The foursome of Pettitt, Hicks and juniors Dominic Musick and Jacob Shores is 14th seed in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a seed time of 1:31.1.

The Lady Wildcat foursome of seniors Evelyn Panek, Olivia Thompson, and Elizabeth Denlinger, and junior Kaitlyn Leonard is the 23rd seed in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a seed time of 1:44.74.

The same foursome is the 28th seed in the 400-yard freestyle relay in a time of 3:52.56.

The PIAA Class AA Swimming & Diving Championships are set for Friday and Saturday at Bucknell University.
