Valley Sports ReportTHE VALLEY — One of final events of the winter sports season get under way Friday with a host of Athens swimmers vying for medals at the PIAA Championships. The spring season was slated to open, but Sayre's baseball game at Wyalusing has been postponed.
SWIMMING & DIVING
PIAA Championships, 8 a.m. @ Bucknell Univ.: Athens will have competitors in seven swimming events and one in the diving competition, including four on Friday.
Junior Brayden Pettitt will be in action in the 200-yard IM, and junior Eli Hicks will swim in the 50-yard freestyle.
Pettitt and Hicks will join juniors Dominic Musick and Jacob Shores in the 200-yard freestyle relay.
The Lady Wildcat foursome of seniors Evelyn Panek, Olivia Thompson, and Elizabeth Denlinger, and junior Kaitlyn Leonard will compete in the 200-yard freestyle relay.
BASEBALL
Sayre at Wyalusing, 4:30 p.m.: The game has been postponed.
