ATHENS' PETTITT, WAVERLY'S JOHNSON NAMED BISHOP BROTHERS CONSTRUCTION 'ATHLETES OF THE WEEK"Pettitt won a pair of seventh-place medals at the PIAA Class AA Swimming & Diving Championships.
He finished seventh in the 200-yard IM in a school-record time of 1:57.81. He was also seventh in the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 58.32 seconds.
He also swam on a pair of relays that qualified for States, but did not place.
Johnson placed fifth in a 56-bowler field at the New York State Class AA Individual Championships with a six-game set of 1,302, an average of 217.
Johnson closed out his first three-game series with a 289 for a 672 series. The 289 was the high game of the tournament. He rolled a 235 in the seconds session.
