Valley Sports Report
THE VALLEY — The Athens and Sayre baseball and softball teams are scheduled to throw the first pitches of the 2026 season on the road against NTL divisional rivals Saturday, while Waverly flag football opens at home at Memorial Stadium.

Sayre has had four baseball games, including one that was postponed twice, and two softball games postponed by the weather already this spring.

BASEBALL
Athens at Towanda, 11 a.m.:
The Wildcats are coming off a 15-5 season, and return a host of experience.

Sayre at Canton, 4 p.m.: The Redskins are coming off a 1-17 season that ended with a win at Sullivan County on the final day of the season.

SOFTBALL
Athens at Towanda, 11 a.m.:
The Wildcats are coming off a historic 21-2 season that included the first District 4 title in program history.

Sayre at Canton, 4 p.m.: The Redskins are coming off a 3-14 season that ended with two wins in the final four games.

FLAG FOOTBALL
Greene at Waverly, 11 a.m.:
The Wolverines are coming off an 8-5 season that ended in the Section IV, Class C semifinals, a week after the program's first-ever postseason win.

Waverly lost just four players to graduation.
