NTL BASEBALL: CANTON BLANKS SAYRE, 5-0, IN SEASON-OPENER (March 21, 2026)

SAYRE — Canton scored a run early and a pair of pitchers combined on a two-hitter in a 5-0 season-opening win over Sayre here on a cold Saturday afternoon.

The Warriors took a 1-0 lead in the home half of the first inning, and added two insurance runs in each of the fourth and fifth innings.

Sophomores Brayden Northrup and Riley McGaughey each singled to account for Sayre's two hits.

Junior Shaine Strickland and senior Kyshon Kole each reached base twice via walks.

Daniel Inman earned the win for Canton, striking out seven and walking one in five innings of two-hit ball, and Reed Taylor struck out one and walked on in two innings of hitless relief.

Sayre returns to action Thursday at Williamson.
