WAVERLY — Waverly led through four innings, but Owego's bats came to life late in a 6-4 win here Monday afternoon in STAC Central Division softball action.

The River Hawks scored a run in the top of the third, but the Wolverines answered in the home half, scoring a pair of two-out runs to take a 2-1 lead.

With two outs, senior Maddie Cron singled to center field, then scored on an RBI double by freshman Taylin Gonzalez to tie the game at 1-1. Junior Hannah Carpenter followed with an RBI single up the middle to make it 2-1.

Owego rallied with two runs in the fifth inning, and three more in the sixth to take a 6-2 lead.

Waverly closed the gap in the bottom of the sixth inning on an RBI single by sophomore Melanie Skovira, which plated freshman Anna Fassett, who reached on a one-out infield single.

Gonzalez tacked on the final run in the bottom of the seventh inning with a one-out RBI double to plate Cron.

Gonzalez doubled twice, drove in two runs, and scored one run to pace Waverly's six-hit attack, while Cron singled and scored two runs, and junior Lecksie Douglas doubled.

Carpenter singled and drove in one run for the Wolverines, while Skovira added a single, and freshman Ayla Wheeler scored one run.
