NTL BASEBALL: NEB TOPS SAYRE, 5-1 (March 31, 2026)

Valley Sports Report
ROME, Pa. — Kohen Hugo scattered four hits and struck out in leading Northeast Bradford to a 5-1 win over Sayre here Tuesday afternoon in NTL Small School baseball action.

The game was originally slated to be played at Sayre, but wet fields Tuesday morning resulted in the switch of venue.

The Panthers took a 2-0 lead with a run in the bottom of the first inning, and took that lead into the fourth inning.

In the top of the fourth, Kyshon Cole led off the inning with a single, and scored on a two-out RBI double by sophomore Riley McGaughey to close the gap to 2-1.

NEB answered with two runs in the home half of the fourth inning to take on a 4-1 lead, then tacked on another run in the fifth inning.

McGaughey rapped a pair of doubles and drove in one run to pace Sayre's four-hit attack, while Kole singled and scored one run, and senior Jackson Varner added a single.

Senior Karter Green was tagged with the loss, allowing five runs — two earned — on three hits in 4 2/3 innings. He struck out six and walked six.

Varner allowed on hit and walked two in closing out the fifth inning, and junior Shaine Strickland struck out one in a perfect inning of relief.

Sayre, now 1-3, returns to action Thursday at Cowanesque Valley.
