STAC JV BASEBALL: WAVERLY CRUISES TO SEASON-OPENING WIN OVER CHENANGO FORKS (April 1, 2026)
Valley Sports ReportBINGHAMTON — Waverly plated six runs in the bottom of the second inning on its way to a season-opening, 14-2, win over Chenango Forks here Monday in STAC Central Division junior varsity baseball action.
Forks took the lead early with a run in the top of the first, but the Wolverines led 6-1 after two innings, then added four runs in the fourth inning, and four more in the sixth.
Jon Montgomery and Peyton Lawson combined on a no-hitter in the win.
Montgomery earned the win for Waverly, allowing one run, while striking out six and walking three in four innings, while Lawson allowed one run with four strikeouts and three walks in two innings.
The Wolverines had just four hits in the win, and took advantage of eight base on balls from Forks pitching, and seven Blue Devil errors.
Brody Lambert tripled, scored two runs, and had three RBI, Montgomery singled, scored two runs, and drove in one run, Lawson singled, scored three runs, and stole three bases, and Brock Rose singled, scored one run, and had two RBI to account for Waverly's four hits.
Gabe Hendershot scored one run and had two RBI in the win, while Brycen Fiske scored one run, and drove in one run, and Hayden Roskow, Brayden Bowman, and Cooper Skovira each crossed the plate once.
Waverly returns to action Thursday when it hosts Chenango Forks.
