VALLEY SPORTS REPORT: WAVERLY'S OLMSTED, ATHENS' COOKE NAMED BISHOP BROTHERS' CONSTRUCTION 'ATHLETES OF THE WEEK' (April 5, 2026)

Valley Sports Report
THE VALLEY — Junior Makenzie Olmsted played an integral part in the Wolverines' 2-1 week on the flag football field, while junior Brendan Cooke had a big week at the plate to help the Wildcats to a 3-1 week. They are the VSR / Bishop Brothers Construction "Athletes of the Week."

OLMSTED NAMED BISHOP BROTHERS CONSTRUCTION GIRLS "ATHLETE OF THE WEEK"

Olmsted had 14 receptions for 184 yards in three TDs in three games, and also had 173 rushing yards and two TDs on 16 carries.

Olmsted ran for 103 yards and a TD on 13 carries, and also had three catches for 76 yards and one TD in a 40-0 win over Corning.

She also had eight grabs for 86 yards and one TD in an 18-13 loss to Henninger. She also had an interception.

COOKE NAMED BISHOP BROTHERS CONSTRUCTION BOYS "ATHLETE OF THE WEEK"
Cooke hit .333 on the week, with four hits in 12 at-bats, but he made the most of those four hits — two home runs, one triple and one double.

Cooke, who also drew three base on balls, had 11 RBI, eight runs scored, and two stolen bases.

Cooke's best game of the week was in a 15-13 loss to East in the finals of the Lumber Yard Classic, where he was 3-for-4 with two home runs, six RBI, two walks and one stolen base.
