COLE, MALANOSKI LOG SAYRE'S ONLY WINS OF MEETValley Sports ReportSAYRE — Seniors Abby Burgess and Alex Thompson led the Athens girls and boys, respectively, to wins over North Penn-Mansfield and Sayre in an NTL track & field tri-meet here on a frigid Tuesday afternoon at the Lockhart Street Bowl.
GIRLS
Athens 90, NP-M 82, Sayre 8Burgess was a triple-winner, while senior Lizzie Gorsline and sophomore Alissa Vough were double-winners in lead Athens to 90 team points, while NP-M tallied 82, and Sayre 8.
Senior Emma Cole logged Sayre's only win in the meet.
Burgess won the 100-meter dash in a time of 12.57 seconds, and freshman Bilikula Wennie was third in 14.12 seconds. Sayre freshman Lillyana Colon was eighth in 15.42 seconds, and junior Maryze Rivera was 16th in 18.14 seconds.
Burgess also won the 200-meter dash in a time of 27.53 seconds, while junior Kaitlyn Leonard was third in 30.42 seconds, and sophomore Ella Marhefka was fourth in 30.97 seconds. Colon was seventh in 32.42 seconds.
Burgess teamed with Leonard, Marhefka, and Wennie to win the 400-meter relay in a time of 54.22 seconds.
Gorsline won the 300-meter hurdles in 53.73 seconds, and sophomore Savannah Boyles was fourth in 1:00.37
Vough won the 1,600-meter run in a time of 5:56.5, while freshman Stella Unger was third in 6:10.72, and senior Ava Hughes was fourth in 6:14.6.
Gorsline and Vough teamed with freshman Eden Fedorchak and sophomore Marlene Roelle to win the 1,600-meter relay in a time of 4:40.65.
Hughes won the 3,200-meter run in a time of 12:52.23, and Vough was third in 14:51.23,
Sophomore Annika Lezak won the javelin with a throw of 101-feet, 8-inches, and junior Mya Smith was fourth at 64-feet, 8-inches. Sayre freshman Lillian Colon was 12th at 39-feet.
Senior Evelyn Panek won the high jump at 4-feet, 8-inches, and senior Elizabeth Denlinger was fourth at 4-feet.
Denlinger won the pole vault, clearing the bar at 7-feet, 6-inches, and senior Fiona Coniglio was second at 6-feet, 6-inches.
Sayre's Cole won the discus with a toss of 72-feet, 2-inches, while Athens senior Abby Wagner was second at 69-feet, and senior Leah Nason was third at 58-feet, 4-inches.
Burgess finished second in the 400-meter dash in 1:02.46.
Vough finished second in the 800-meter run in a time of 2:37.9, and sophomore Marlene Roelle was third in 2:44.99.
Leonard finished second in the long jump at 14-feet, 1/4-inch, and Denlinger was third at 13-feet-4-inches. Sayre junior Maryze Rivera was 11th at 8-feet, 10-incches
Leonard was third in the triple jump with a mark of 29-feet, 5-inches, and Boyles was fourth at 25-feet, 10 1/2-inches.
BOYS
Athens 99, NP-M 76, Sayre 11Thompson was a triple-winner, while senior Ryan Cook and junior Graham Wanck were double-winners to help Athens to 99 team points, while NP-M tallied 76, and Sayre 11.
Thompson won the 400-meter dash in a time of 55.25 seconds, and freshman Avery Gorsline was second in 57.77 seconds. Sayre junior Dominic Musick was eighth in 1:08.0, and junior Austin Quattrini was ninth in 1:08.65.
Thompson, Cook, and Gorsline teamed with junior Brayden Westbrook to win the 1,600-meter relay in a time of 3:58.45.
Alex Thompson and Wanck teamed with juniors Matt Rossettie and Lucas Persun to win the 3,200-meter relay in a time of 9:24.62.
Cook won the 100-meter dash in 11.88 seconds, while junior Ryder Morley was second in 11.88 seconds and sophomore Patrick Umber was third in 11.97 seconds.
Graham Wanck won the 1,600-meter run in a time of 5:03.04, and Persun was fourth in 5:15.31. Sayre junior Glenn VanBenthuysen was seventh in a time of 5:40.14.
Umber won the 200-meter dash in a time of 24.03 seconds, while Cook was third in 24.3 seconds, and Morley was fourth in 24.49 seconds.
Sayre's Malanoski won the shot put with a heave of 45-feet, 2 1/2-inches, while Athens senior Brenden Comstock was second at 44-feet, 6-inches, and freshman Brayden Judah was fourth at 31-feet, 9 1/2-inches. Sayre sophomore Zach Cross was ninth at 28-feet, 7-inches.
Comstock won the discus with a toss of 127-feet, and Malanoski was second at 104-feet, 3-inches. Cross was 12th at 59-feet, 4-inches.
Athens senior Chase Ingram won the 110-meter hurdles in a time of 19.18 seconds, while freshman Shayan Ankam was second at 20.21 seconds, and freshman Gavin Ross was third at 20.22 seconds.
Athens junior Zach Fisher won the javelin with a throw of 124-feet, 11-inches, while junior Hayden Bartlow was third at 90-feet, and Ingram was fourth at 89-feet, 1-inch.
Ross won the pole vault at 8-feet, and Sayre junior Austin Quattrini was second at 7-feet, 6-inches.
Ankam finished second in the 300-meter hurdles in 51.08 seconds, and sophomore Jacob Gorsline was fourth in 52.88 seconds.
Graham Wanck finished second in the 800-meter run in a time of 2:09.48. VanBenthuysen was seventh in a time of 2:33.37, while Musick was 14th in 2:51.0, and Quattrini was 15th in 2:51.7.
Graham Wanck was also second in the 3,200-meter run in a time of 12:07.63, while senior Parker Wanck was third in 12:09.21, and Persun was fourth in 12:10.12.
Ingram was second in the triple jump at 35-feet, 11 3/4-inches.
Ross finished third in the high jump at 5-feet, 6-inches, and freshman Izaiah Bailey was fourth at 5-feet, 2-inches.
Freshman Cy Yeager finished third in the long jump with a leap of 17-feet, 1/4-inch, and Bailey was fourth at 16-feet, 11 3/4-inches.
Athens and Sayre will both return to action Friday at the Northwest Ranger Relays.
