NTL SOFTBALL: ATHENS PITCHERS NO-HIT SAYRE; WILDCATS’ HILEY ACCOUNTS FOR 8 RUNS (April 9, 2026)

SAYRE — Athens’ Gretchan Hiley and Maci Campbell combined to no-hit Sayre, and Madalyn Hiley accounted for eight runs in a three-inning, 17-0 victory in NTL softball action at Riverfront Park Wednesday.

The Wildcats’ bats were hot out of the gate, cranking out seven hits in the first to build an 8-0 cushion. Madalyn Hiley sandwiched a single between a pair of errors, then Memphis Paul cleared the bases with a double.

Abigail Ahern’s single made it 4-0 and a base hit from Mya Allen plated two more runs for a 6-0 advantage. Madalyn Hiley’s second at-bat of the inning drove in the next two runs.

Athens scored nine runs on nine hits in the top of the third, highlighted by a three-run home run from Madalyn Haley. She would lead the Wildcats at the plate, going 4-for-4 with six RBI and two runs scored on the day.

Allen led off the third with a double, Faith Parkhurst singled and Gretchan Hiley reached on an error. Madalyn Hiley’s dinger made it 12-0. McKenna Jarvis, Paul and Danica May followed with consecutive singles, then Savannah Finan and Allen wrapped doubles around a fly out. A pair of errors followed by a Madalyn Hiley single made it 17-0.

Gretchan Hiley struck out three batters in the bottom of the first while surrendering a base on balls to Emily Strickland.

The Redskins’ Zoe Ward walked Paul to lead off the second, then retired the side.

Gretchan Hiley retired the side in the second with a pair of strikeouts and a ground out back to herself.

Campbell pitched the third inning for the Wildcats, sandwiching a strikeout around two ground outs.

Madalyn Hiley wasn’t the only Wildcat to enjoy an impressive day at the plate. Allen went 3-for-3 with two doubles, three runs and three RBI, and Paul went 3-for-3 with a double and three RBI. May and Parkhurst both went 2-for-3 and each of them scored twice and drove in a run.

Jarvis had a hit and two runs, and Ahern added a hit, a run and an RBI. Gretchan Hiley and Abby Delosa tacked on a run apiece.
