STAC BOYS TENNIS: WAVERLY EDGES CV; IMPROVES TO 2-0 (April 8, 2026)

WAVERLY — The Waverly boys tennis team edged out Chenango Valley, 4-3, in a STAC Central match here Wednesday to boost its record to 2-0.
The Wolverines took two singles matches and two doubles matches to remain ahead of Seton Catholic (2-1) in the division race.
"We won three straight set matches and we split two of our three set matches," said coach Ron Chamberlain. "Our guys are analyzing their game during play and improving the mental part of their games. Forget the last bad point, game or set. That's growth."
Nate Kellogg defeated Arin Miller, 6-2, 6-3, at second singles.
Nathan McEwen bested Hudson Tanner, 6-3, 6-3, at third singles.
Waverly’s Owen Fassett and Trent Van Dyke took the second doubles match over Sawyer Jackson and Logan Kliment, 7-5, 6-0.
The third doubles duo of Kamden Sorensen and Alvin Gao won against Ethan Benninger and Nathaniel Lewis, 6-3, 4-6, 6-0.
Logan Roskow took the Warriors’ Kainoa Tang-Chung the distance, dropping a 6-2, 4-6, 6-3 verdict at first singles.
CV won first doubles as well as Ethan Randall and Adam Colvin won over Finn Williams and Tammo Bruns, 6-3, 6-4.
The visitors picked up a forfeit win too.
