IAC SOFTBALL: FEEKO COLLECTS 150TH HIT AS TIOGA CRUISES PAST GROTON (April 13, 2026)

TIOGA CENTER — RaeAnne Feeko and Olivia Shugars both went 3-for-3 as Tioga cruised to a 15-2 victory over Groton in IAC softball action here Monday.

Feeko’s performance, which also included three runs and three RBI, was highlighted by her 150th career hit, a bunt single in the second inning.

The Tigers wasted little time taking control as Feeko opened the bottom of the first with a walk, stole second and scored on Kate Kithcart’s one-out double. Lilly Mezzatesta followed an RBI, putting the hosts on top, 2-1.

Vanessa Tunnicliff followed with a base on balls, then Kyah Nelson drove in Mezzatesta and Tunnicliff with a single, pushing the lead to 4-1.

Kithcart retired the side in the second sandwiching a strikeout between a pair of groundouts.

The Tigers started the bottom of the inning off with four consecutive singles by Shugars, Bri Lounsbury, Feeko and Madelyn Rogers with Feeko and Rogers picking up RBIs to increase the lead to 6-1.

Feeko was erased at third on a fielder’s choice, Mezzatesta drew a base on balls, but was out at second on another fielder’s choice that scored Rogers.

Kithcart would score on a passed ball, then Nelson and Irie Lynch walked, and Shugars singled to plate Tunnicliff for a 9-0 advantage.

Feeko and Kithcart wrapped base hits around a walk to Rogers, scoring Feeko to make it 10-1. Mezzatesta would walk to load the bases, but the Red Hawks would turn a double play to get out of the inning.

Groton would pick up its second run of the day in the fourth on an error and a double.

Lynch and Shugars hit back-to-back singles, but a fielder’schoice took Shygars out at second. Feeko followed with a double, scoring Lynch and Lounsbury to give the Tigers a 12-2 cushion.

Rogers added an RBI single to score Feeko, Mezzatesta drew a walk and Rogers scored on a passed ball, then Tunnicliff doubled to bring Mezzatesta across with the Tigers final run of the contest.

The Red Hawks put a runner on base on a dropped third strike to start the sixth, but Shugars induced a pair of ground outs and a pop out in relief to end the game.

Rogers and Kithcart contributed two hits, two runs and two RBI apiece; Tunnicliff had a hit, two runs and two RBI; Mezzatesta recorded a hit, two runs and one RBI; Lounsbury chipped in with a hit and two runs; Nelson had a hit and two RBI; Lynch added a hit and run; and Shugars tacked on a run and an RBI.

Kithcart struck out six and scattered three hits without yielding an earned run,and Shugars fanned one batter.

Violet Santspree went 2-for-3 with a run for Groton, Jill Zigenfus added a hit and Ann Seamans scored the team’s other run.

Tioga improved to 4-1 while Groton fell to 0-7.
