STAC SOFTBALL: WAVERLY FALLS, 4-1, TO DEFENDING CLASS B CHAMP SUS VALLEY (April 13, 2026)

Valley Sports Report
WAVERLY — Susquehanna Valley’s Lilli’Onna D’Introno, a STAC Central/East All-Conference pitcher last season, struck out 13 Waverly batters in a 4-1 STAC softball victory here Monday.

The Sabers, who won the Section IV Class B championship last season, got on the scoreboard early as Rianne Moelder started the game off with a walk, stole second, advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored on Kiana Cipolla’s double. Following a strikeout, Cipolla made it 2-0 on Danica LaBarre’s base hit to left.

Waverly thwarted any further scoring on a strikeout and LaBarre getting caught attempting to steal third.

The Wolverines picked up their first hit when Taylin Gonzales delivered a two-out single in the bottom of the first inning, but D’Introno struck out the next batter.

Paige Bubniak doubled to center field to lead off the home half of the second inning, but D’Introno retired the side.

Waverly would pick up its first run in the fifth when Ayla Wheeler and Anna Fassett wrapped walks around an out, and Wheeler scored on a bunt single by Leksie Douglas, which was followed by an error on the play.

Sus Valley tacked on a pair of insurance runs in the sixth as Cipolla singled, K Richardson double and LaBarre followed with a two-run single to center.

D’Introno allowed just three hits and one walk.

Gonzales scattered five hits, fanning six and walking seven.

Sus Valley, which has returned seven of nine STAC all-stars from last season, improved to 4-0 in STAC play and 5-0 overall. Waverly slipped to 2-2 in both.

“Very pleased with how we played tonight,”coach Brent Doane said. “Susquehanna Valley is a very good team, good ball players, and well-coached.

“We knew this was a big test for us. They are a gold standard team, and we were able to hang with them. We aren't quite there yet, but we are working at it.”
