STAC BASEBALL: WAVERLY DROPS SETON CATHOLIC, IMPROVES TO 3-0 (April 13, 2026)

BINGHAMTON — Porter Daddona and Jack Pipher did not allow an earned run as Waverly improved to 3-0 with a 9-3 STAC Central Division victory over Seton Catholic here Monday.
Daddona struckout nine batters, walked four and gave up four hits to pick up the victory and Pipher fanned a pair of batters, surrendering just one hit in one inning of relief.
Hogan Shaw and Pipher opened the game with back-to-back singles and moved into scoring position on an error, then Hogan Shaw would score on a wild pitch and Pipher would advance to third.
Ronan Ault drew a base on balls, Justin Koenig scored Pipher with a single and Ben Shaw plated Ault with a base hit, giving the Wolverines a 3-0 advantage.
A single and two passed balls allowed the Saints’ Mike Rundell to get a run back in the bottom of the inning.
Neither team would score again until Waverly pushed a run across in the top of the fifth as Daltton Davis reached on an error, advanced to second on Sam Cheresnowsky’s sacrifice bunt and scored on Ault’s single.
Waverly made it 5-1 in the sixth with a Ben Shaw single, Axel Murray walk and a double play ball that scored Shaw.
Seton turned two walks, a passed ball, an error and a ground out into a pair of runs in the home half of the sixth, closing the gap to 5-3.
The Wolverines erupted for four insurance runs in their final at-bats. Pipher started the surge off with a one out double, Ault walked and Matthias Welles belted a two-run double to center field.
Koenig followed with a walk then, following an out, Murray walked and Daltton was hit by a pitch to score Welles and Koenig would score the final run of the day on a Cheresnowsky single.
The Wolverines would pound out nine hits with Pipher going 2-for-4 with two runs and Ben Shaw going 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI. Ault recorded a hit, two runs and an RBI; Welles contributed a hit, run and two RBI, and Koenig chipped in with a hit, run and RBI.
Cheresnowsky added a hit and two RBI; Davis had a run and an RBI; and Hogan Shaw tacked on a hit and a run.
With the loss, Seton dropped to 0-6.
