NTL BASEBALL: CANTON RIDES BIG INNING TO 10-1 WIN OVER SAYRE (April 14, 2026)
Valley Sports ReportSAYRE — Canton plated six runs in the top of the fifth inning to blow open a close game en route to a 10-1 win over Sayre here Tuesday afternoon in NTL Small School Division baseball action.
The Warriors scored a run in the top of the first inning, and added two more in the third to take a 3-0 lead.
After scoring six runs to make it 9-0, Canton tacked on a run in the top of the sixth to extend the lead to 10-0.
In the home half of the sixth, junior Shaine Strickland hit a one-out double to right field. After a steal of third base, he scored on a wild pitch to make it 10-1.
Strickland doubled, stole two bases, and scored one run, while sophomore Riley McGaughey and Blake Zingeser added singles to account for Sayre's three hits.
Sayre, now 1-8, returns to action Thursday at Loyalsock.
