STAC BOYS TENNIS: WAVERLY FALLS TO NORWICH, 4-3 (April 22, 2026)

NORWICH — For the second day in a row, Waverly dropped a "heart-breaking" 4-3 decision, this time against Norwich, which pulled out three three-set wins, here Wednesday afternoon in STAC boys tennis action.

All three of the Purple Tornadoes' three-set wins saw the Norwich players drop the first set. Two of the three wins were in third-set tiebreakers.

In the first singles, Waverly's Logan Roskow won the first set 6-2, but Norwich's Liam Hunter rallied to win the second set, 6-2, then the third set 7-6, via a 10-8 tiebreaker.

Waverly's Nathan Kellogg swept Jay Hall, 6-1 and 6-4 in the second singles' match for the Wolverines' only singles win.

Waverly's Nathan McEwen won the first set 6-4, but Norwich's Vinny Lawson rallied for a 6-3 win to even the third-singles match, then won the third set 7-6, via a 7-3 win in the tiebreaker.

Norwich's Timmy Guzewich swept the fourth singles match.

Waverly's Finn Williams and Tammo Bruns, a German exchange student, won the first doubles match by scores of 6-1 and 7-5.

Waverly's Trent VanDyke and Collin Wheeler won the second doubles match by scores of 6-3 and 6-2.

In the third singles match, Waverly's Kam Sorenson and Alvin Gao won the first set 6-2, but the Norwich duo of Fisher Rifanburg and Finn Christophersen rallied to win the next two sets, 6-3 and 6-4.

Waverly, now 4-3, returns to action Thursday when it hosts Susquehanna Valley.
