STAC BASEBALL: EARLY RUNS LEAD WAVERLY TO 14-2 ROUT OF CHENANGO VALLEY (April 24, 2026)

Valley Sports Report
WAVERLY — Unbeaten Waverly built an early 11-0 lead on its way to a 14-2 win over Chenango Valley and a sweep of their three-game series here Friday afternoon in STAC Central Division baseball action.

The Wolverines, ranked sixth in the state in Class A, banged out 11 hits in five innings, including six extra-base hits, in support of senior Porter Daddona's two-hit complete game.

After Daddona struck out the side in order in the top of the first inning, the Wolverines scored five runs — all with two outs. Freshman Axel Murray delivered the big hit — a three-RBI triple to make it 4-0, then scored on an RBI single by senior Derek Johnson.

Daddona pitched around a two-out walk in the second inning, then the Wolverines scored six more runs.

Sophomore Jack Pipher started the scoring with an RBI double, and junior Justin Koenig followed with a two-run single to make it 8-0. With two outs, Johnson capped the rally with a three-run home run to extend the lead to 11-0.

After the Warriors scored twice in the top of the third inning, Waverly answered with two runs in the bottom of the inning in a rally that featured a solo home run by senior Ronin Ault.

Johnson was 2-for-2 with a home run, one run scored, and four RBI, and Ault homered and doubled, scored three runs, stole two bases, and drove in one run to pace Waverly's 11-hit attack, while Pipher doubled and singled, stole two bases, scored two runs, and drove in one run, and Murray tripled, scored one run, and drove in three runs.

Koenig singled, scored two runs, and drove in two runs in the win, while Ben Shaw singled, scored two runs, and knocked in one run, Welles tripled and scored one run, senior Hogan Shaw singled and scored one run, Ahren McCarthy scored one run, and sophomore Griff Walter drove in one run.

Daddona allowed two runs on two hits, while striking out 10 and walking two in five innings to earn the win.

Waverly, now 9-0, returns to action Monday at Susquehanna Valley.
