NTL BASEBALL: COWANESQUE VALLEY WIPES OUT ONE-RUN DEFICIT LATE IN 16-2 WIN OVER SAYRE (April 28, 2026)Valley Sports ReportSAYRE — Cowanesque Valley scored nine runs in the top of the sixth inning to wipe out a one-run deficit en route to a 16-2 win over Sayre here Tuesday afternoon in NTL Large School Division baseball action at Riverfront Park.
The Redskins took a quick 1-0 lead with a run in the bottom of the first inning on a two-out double by senior Karter Green and an RBI single by sophomore Riley McGaughey.
Karter Green tossed shutout ball into the fourth inning before allowing a run to score on a wild pitch to tie the game at 1-1.
The Redskins manufactured a run in the home half of the fifth to take a 2-1 lead.
Sophomore Tanner Green stroked a one-out single, then senior Logan Zingeser walked, and junior Shaine Strickland singled to load the bases.
With two outs, Green was hit by a pitch to force home a run.
CV rapped out a pair of singles to open the top of the sixth inning, then took advantage of four consecutive walks and a passed ball to take a 6-2 lead. Four consecutive hits added four more runs to make it 10-2.
The Indians finished off the game with six runs in the top of the seventh inning.
McGaughey singled twice and drove in one run, and Strickland doubled and singled to pace Sayre's four-hit attack, while Karter Green doubled and knocked in one run, Tanner Green singled and scored one run, and Blake Zingeser added a single.
Sayre, now 1-13, hosts NEB Monday.
