IAC BASEBALL: TIOGA RALLIES TO TOP NEWFIELD, 12-8 (April 28, 2026)

NEWFIELD — Tioga wiped out a four-run deficit with an eight-run fourth-inning rally, then scored late to pull out a 12-8 win over Newfield here Tuesday afternoon in IAC Small School Division baseball action.

The Trojans scored two runs in each of the second and third innings to take a 4-0 lead, but the Tigers surged ahead in the fourth inning.

Tioga's rally started with back-to-back base on balls to Cooper Dember and Max Paugh to lead off the inning. Cam Ross put the Tigers on the board with an RBI single.

With one out, Casey Stoughton worked a walk and Brendan Clark followed with a two-run single to close the gap to 4-3, and an error plated to runs to give the Tigers a 5-4 lead.

With two outs, Dember lined a two-RBI single to left field to give Tioga a 7-4 lead, The final run in the rally scored on an error to make it 8-4.

Newfield answered immediately with four runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to tie the game at 8-8.

The Tigers took the lead for good on an RBI single by Dember in the top of the sixth inning. Dember later scored on a bases-loaded walk to Jaxon Bidwell to make it 10-8.

Tioga added a pair of insurance runs in the top of the seventh inning on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Anthony Powell. Dember scored the final run of the game later in the inning on a balk.

Dember singled twice, scored four runs, and drove in three runs, and Ross singled twice, scored one run, and knocked in one run to pace Tioga's seven-hit attack.

Clark singled, scored one run, and drove in two runs in the win, while Bidwell singled and knocked in one run, Powell added a double, Brayden Lounsbury scored a pair of runs, and Paugh and Staughton each crossed the plate once.

Dember also earned the win on the mound, allowing four runs on two hits in five innings of relief. He fanned eight and walked seven.

Clark started for the Tigers, allowing one earned run on four hits, while striking out four and walking none in two innings.

Tioga, now 5-4, returns to action Friday when it hosts Newfield.
