SECTION IV GIRLS GOLF: WAVERLY FALLS TO CORNING, LANSING (April 30, 2026)
Valley Sports ReportWAVERLY — Corning's Delaney Abel was under-par, and Lansing's Haile Baughan broke 40 to lead both teams over Waverly here Thursday afternoon in a Section IV girls golf tri-meet at Tomasso's Golf Course.
Abel fired a two-under 33 on the par-35 front nine at Tomasso's, while her younger sister Harper Abel shot a 46 to lead Corning to a four-player aggregate score of 189, while Lansing shot a 202, and Waverly carded a 215.
Emilia Mitchell led Waverly with a 50, while Sophia Sileo shot a 51, Addison Hunt carded a 53, and Olivia Cheresnowsky added a 61.
Alaina Nichols and Adrianna Presher tacked on non-scoring rounds of 62 and 67 for the Wolverines.
Baughan shot a 38 to lead the Bobcats, and Alessandra Monacelli added a 44.
Waverly, now 8-5, returns to action Tuesday at Vestal.
