NTL SOFTBALL: SULLIVAN COUNTY TOPS SAYRE, 17-10, IN SEASON FINALE (May 15, 2026)
Valley Sports ReportSAYRE — Sullivan County scored five runs in the top of the seventh inning to ice a 17-10 win over Sayre in the season finale here Thursday in non-league softball action.
Sayre beat Sullivan County, 13-9, Tuesday.
The Griffins jumped ahead 4-0 in the top of the first inning, but the Redskins rallied with five runs in the home half in a rally fueled by a two-run triple by senior Rylee Lantz.
Both teams scored two runs in the second inning, then Sullivan took the lead for good, at 10-7, with four runs in the top of the fourth inning.
Sophomore Emily Strickland stroked an RBI single in the bottom of the fourth inning to close the gap to 10-8, then the teams exchanged runs in the fifth and sixth inning, with the Griffins leading 12-10 heading into the seventh inning.
Lantz tripled and doubled, scored two runs and drove in two runs, and Strickland singled twice, scored two runs and had two RBI to pace Sayre's 11-hit attack.
Junior Zoey doubled and singled, scored one run and drove in one run for the Redskins, while senior Olivia Thompson singled twice, scored one run, and knocked in one run, and junior Paige Secrist, freshman Aftyn VanDuzer, and sophomore Olivia Homer each added a single.
Sophomore McKenna Parrish scored three runs for Sayre, while freshman Allia Bennett scored one run and drove in one run, and senior Mikyah Brown had one RBI.
Sayre wraps up the season with a 2-16 record.
