NTL SOFTBALL: ATHENS EARNS SPLIT AT CENTRAL COLUMBIA TOURNAMENT (May 16, 2026)
Valley Sports ReportBLOOMSBURG — After a loss to Western Wayne in the opening round, Athens bounced back with a win over in the consolation game with a lopsided win over Executive Education Academy at the Central Columbia Softball Tournament here Saturday.
The Wildcats, now 15-4, dropped a 14-5d ecision to Western Wayne, but bounced back with a 15-0 three-inning win over EEA in the consolation game.
WESTERN WAYNE 14, ATHENS 5Western Wayne scored six runs in the bottom of the first inning, then had a big answer for Athens in the third inning on its way to a 14-5 win.
The Wildcats took an early 1-0 lead on an RBI groundout off the bat of freshman Abby Delosa in the top of the first inning, but the Western Wayne Wildcats, now 5-13, answered with six runs in the bottom of the inning.
Athens scored four runs in the top of the third inning in a rally that featured an RBI single by sophomore Kendall Glass, an RBI double by senior Maddie Hiley, and a two-run home run by Delosa to close the gap to 6-5.
Western Wayne, however, regained the momentum with five runs in the bottom of the inning to take an 11-5 lead.
Senior Danica May had three hits, including a double, and Maddie Hiley doubled and singled and drove in one run to pace Athens' 11-hit attack.
Galasso doubled and singled and drove in one run, and Delosa belted a two-run home run for Athens, while junior McKenna Jarvis singled and scored two runs, and sophomore Lainey Vosburg singled and scored one run. Sophomore Andrea Davis added a single.
Freshman Maci Campbell hllowed two earned runs on six hits, while striking out three and walking two in three innings of relief.
ATHENS 15, ESXEC. EDUCATION 0Athens poured 11 runs across the plate in the bottom of the first inning on its way to a 15-0 three-inning win over Executive Education Academy.
Galasso had three hits, including a pair of doubles, two runs scored, and two RBI to lead the Wildcats' 10-hit attack, while sophomore Abby Ahern doubled and singled, scored two runs, and drove in one run, and Campbell stroked a pair of singles, scored three runs, and knocked in one run.
May and Vosburg each singled, scored one run, and drove in one run in the inn, while freshman Peighton Henry added a single, Jarvis scored two runs and drove in one run, Delosa had two RBI, Davis scored one run, and drove in one run, freshman Hailey Smith had one RBI, and freshman Mya Allen scored one run.
Campbell retired all three batters she faced, including two by strikeout.
Allen got the win, allowing one hit and one walk, while striking out three in two innings of relief.
