IAC TRACK & FIELD: ROSSI WINS TWO GOLDS; TIOGA BOYS ATOP TEAM STANDINGS AFTER DAY 1 OF LEAGUE MEET (19 PHOTOS) (May 20, 2026)

TRUMANSBURG — Sophomore Vida Rossi was a double-winner on Day 1 of the IAC Track & Field Championships, while the Tioga boys had four silver medalists and are tied for the top spot in the team standings.

BOYS
Tioga and Newfield share the Day 1 lead with 46 points apiece, and Groton is third with 38 points.

Senior Gavin Albrecht finished second in the 100-meter dash in a time of 11.77 seconds

Albrecht was also second in the long jump at 18-feet, 5 1/4-inches, and senior Dominic Palmer was fifth at 16-feet, 9 1/4-inches.

Palmer placed second in the 110-meter hurdles in a time of 16.22 seconds.

Senior Talon Wood placed second in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in a time of 11:25.33.

Junior Markel Watkins finished third in the shot put with a heave of 35-feet, 7 1/2-inches, and junior Bailey Rugh was 10th at 30-feet, 10-inches.

Senior James Miller placed fourth in the 400-meter dash in a time of 55.62 seconds.

GIRLS
O-M leads the Small School field after Day 1 with 58 points, while Southern Cayuga is second with 40 points, and Groton is third with 36 points. Tioga is fourth with 29 points.

Rossi won gold in the 100-meter dash in a time of 12.61 seconds, and freshman Grace Howey placed fifth in 13.72 seconds.

Rossi also won the long jump with a leap of 17-feet, 1 3/4-inches.

Freshman Natalie Kemp placed fifth in the 400-meter dahs in a time of 1:07.27, and sophomore Brooklin Lynch was 16th in 1:23.47.

Sophomore Amber Bennett placed fifth in the pole vault at 6-feet, 6-inches, and sophomore Aubrey Bennett was sixth at 6-feet.

Junior Sadie Marshall placed sixth in the 100-meter hurdles in a time of 18.8 seconds, and Amber Bennett was ninth at 19.56 seconds.

Freshman Reese Mills placed sixth in the 2,000-meter steeplechase in a time of 9:12.26.

Junior Sara Prough finished eighth in the discus with a throw of 64-feet, 6-inches, and junior Kendall Ward was 12th at 56-feet, 10-inches.

Tioga's 400-meter relay team ran the second-fastest time int he 400-meter relay preliminaries, qualifying for Thursday's finals with a time of 52.85 seconds.

Day 2 of the IAC Championships begins at 4:45 p.m.
