IAC BOYS GOLF: BOMBARD LEADS TIOGA TO SECOND-PLACE FINISH AT SMALL SCHOOL CHAMPIONSHIP (13 PHOTOS) (May 26, 2026)
Valley Sports ReportHORSEHEADS — All four of Tioga's golfers, led by junior Jackson Bombard, finished in the top-13, but the Tigers came up one shot shy at the IAC Small School Boys Golf Championships here at the Soaring Eagles Golf Course.
Bombard shot an 86 on the par-71 Soaring Eagles course to lead the Tigers to a four-player aggregate score of 371 — one shot behind Small School champ Groton, which carded a 370. Southern Cayuga was third with a 382.
"The boys played well today," said Tioga coach Dave Sickler.
"A couple of the guys had a rough start on their first few holes of the round, but like we said before the round, 'don’t let a bad hole or two define your round,'— it’s 18 holes with a lot of golf," noted Sickler.
"They almost pulled it off with two strong teams in Groton and Southern Cayuga.
"Jack (Bombard) and Owen Seaver played consistent golf today and the other guys battled, too," added Sickler. "I am so excited to see what next year brings with the majority of the guys back and some promising younger guys looking to compete as well."
Senior Owen Seaver shot an 86 for the Tigers to finish tied for eighth in the individual standings, while junior Gavin Kithcart and sophomore Drake Ulrich each shot 97 to tie for 13th.
Junior Declan McKee had a non-scoring round of 105 and Owen Parker tacked on a 115.
Union Springs' Michael Culver won IAC Small School gold with an even par round of 71, and O-M's Ethan Nolan won silver with an 83. Southern Cayuga's Landon Hauptfleisch tied Bombard with an 86.
