SECTION IV GIRLS GOLF: CHERESNOWSKY PACES WAVERLY AT SECTIONALS (13 PHOTOS) (May 28, 2026)

HORSEHEADS — Senior Olivia Cheresnowsky posted a top-20 finish here Thursday to pace Waverly's efforts here at the Section IV Girls Golf Championships at Soaring Eagles Golf Course.

Lansing won the Section IV team title with a four-player aggregate score of 411, edging runner-up Corning by two strokes, and third-place Marathon by seven strokes. Waverly finished eighth with a 457.

Cheresnowsky carded a 109 to tie for 17th place, while senior Sophia Sileo finished 22nd with a round of 113, and sophomore Emilia Mitchell tied for 23rd with a 114.

Senior Addison Hunt shot a 121, and senior Alaina Nichols tacked on a non-scoring round of 142.

Sophomore Delaney Abel won Section IV gold with a two-over par round of 73, while Hunter-Tannersville's Teagan Mahoney was second with a 79, and Vestal's Allison Yoon was third with an 81.

Also advancing to States for Section IV are Lansing Baughan (fourth with an 86), Marathon's Savanna Warfield, (fifth, 87), S-VE's Lauren Gillette (sixth, 92), Lansing's Warren Snyder (seventh, 95), Horesheads' Jemma Randall (eighth, 100), and Lansing's Alessandra Monacelli (ninth, 101).
