WEBSTER — Waverly senior Troy Beeman wrapped up his high school athletic career throwing the discus at the 2026 NYSPHSAA Track & Field Championships at Webster Schroeder High School here Sunday.
It capped an impressive run which saw him win a state championship with his Wolverine teammates in football in 2023, then adding an individual title in wrestling less than three months later (he was a four-time state qualifier on the mats).
Beeman didn’t reach the podium among a Class B discus field which saw seven of the 16 competitors record throws of 160 feet or more. He would land a toss of 133-3 on his final throw of the preliminary round. His first attempt was good for 132-11 and he fouled on the next attempt.
He was Waverly’s lone male track & field qualifier this year. Sophomores Gianna Soprano and Kaylin Twedt, and 8th-grader Kezlyn DeKay competed for the Wolverines girls team on Saturday.
